Segway of Oakland has decided to make it easy to trade in your old Segway for the newly designed i2 units. The California dealership will pay anywhere from $1,500 to $2,800 for older models in working order to help defray the cost of purchasing a new i2.

"We are helping our customers by providing value for used Segways and making it easy for them to pick up the i2s," said Segway of Oakland partner, Darren Romar in a press release. "The i2 is a unique riding experience unlike anything Segway has manufactured in the past, and I think every Segway enthusiast who tries it is going to want one."

On the original Segway, the rider had to rotate a grip on the stationary handlebar in order to turn the self-balancing, two-wheel machine. The i2 features a new flexible handle style, which makes turning much easier and more intuitive. Segway of Oakland partner Steve Steinberg describes the new riding experience as more like inline skating; the rider feels more involved. "It's a great workout too," said Steinberg in a press release, "So skiers and snowboarders will find it excellent for cross training as that season approaches."
