Unbeknownst to pretty much everyone in the world, Apple unveiled the Magsafe Airline Adapter today. With this adapter, you can always be sure that your favorite Apple laptop has all the power you need to get you through your flight. The Magsafe adapter connects directly to your in-flight EmPower port or a 20mm port with the included adapter. The magnetic plug securely connects to the port and will easily break away if, say, the person sitting next to you suddenly discovers that the in-flight peanuts just don't agree with him. But before you run out and pick one of these up, be aware that the Magsafe Airline Adapter does not charge the battery in your notebook. And the adapter can't be used in your car, so any hopes of answering e-mail while you drive are pretty much out the window if your battery doesn't have any juice left. The Magsafe Airline Adapter comes with a 20mm adapter and can be found at Apple retailers and online today, for $59. Post by Don Reisinger

Sounds great unless you happen to be flying on one of those airlines banning laptops that have used Sony batteries...

A lot of laptops have banned Dell, Sony, Apple, Toshiba, IBM, and Fujitsu laptops after the exploding battery scare. It's kind of silly, but I think I can understand why the announcement was made on the DL. ;) Still-pretty nifty gadget!
