For those of us who prefer our martinis shaken, not stirred, Sony's Q Division is now offering a range of "gadgets" designed around the James Bond motif.

But honestly, let's not kid ourselves here, people. From what we can see, the Sony 007 Spy Gear Bundle includes some rather standard fare, emblazoned with the 007 logo: the 007 Vaio TX notebook (a Vaio UX option is also available), with (007 Privacy Screen, to boot!) the 007 Cybershot DSC-T50 Digital Camera, and the 007 Micro Vault, all apparently for $3,899, although it's not quite clear whether that price is for the notebook itself, or for the "Spy Gear" bundle as a whole.

Although it's not available now, you can preorder it to ship during mid-November.

Of course, one can't help wishing the movie was released six months ago, before Sony began recalling all of its defective batteries. Wouldn't a Bond notebook be so much cooler, you know, if it actually exploded? It's all very Hackers, unfortunately, and has all the cachet of a James Bond lunchbox. Sure, the attaché case is rather slick, but anyone walking into a LAN party (or god forbid, a conference room) sporting a James Bond laptop either better be a devoted fan, or the sort of self-effacing Brit who places a garden gnome in his carefully landscaped back garden so his neighbors won't think he's a snooty git.

And let's face it - Jason Bourne could take Bond any day.--Mark Hachman

I cannot wait to meet somebody carrying these into a meeting. I hope the vaio is shock proof and water proof. Anyway I believe that for the exploding batteries they should have done a marketing twist. I hope to see in the near future notebook vendors selling us the newest in security features : auto destruction it your password missed 3 times or on a timer just like in mission impossible. Maybe next time.

Also seriously guys would james be using linux - so much more secure. Some other more bond worthy gadgets in my view would be the motorola razrwire glasses and the sony ericsson mbw-100 bluetooth watch. What do you guys think.

Given Sony's shenanigans with rootkits and the like, one has to wonder if this kit comes with its very own mole to compromise the system and provide a reason for an auto-destruct.

Or perhaps the first time you try to rip a CD on the laptop, it morphs into a Sony Media Ninja and kicks you all over the room....
