flying%20bat.bmp Years ago, when Blogging Molly still lived with her parents, we had bats in the attic! I can still hear my mom screaming as one escaped and flew over her head, down the hallway, and into her bedroom. A few months later, I made an airplane out of black construction paper, threw it down the stairs and yelled "Mom! There's a bat in the house!" (Yes, evil I am) Anyway, Scarelog has found a higher tech way to scare my your mom, friends, and other family members. Hang the Flying Bat Prop somewhere in your house and let it flap its wings and fly around the room. (You can also use it outside, presumably hanging from a tree.) The bat attaches to ceiling with three screws and an invisible line. He's powered by two AA batteries and has an on/off switch. Sells for $12.99 at Frightshop.com.

Another spooky must have for your haunted house is the Mini Mist Fogger. Dry ice can be messy and a bit hard to find, this device makes creating fog a little easier. You just put the diffuser (from which the fog rises) into a few inches of water, plug it in, and the fog will immediately start rolling in. Not only is it a great decoration and mood setter, it also acts as a humidifier and will keep exotic plants watered. Scary and practical! The Fogger also includes a splash guard and mist regulator. Fancy! Get it for $39.99 at Cool Stuff Cheap. fog.bmp

Have you heard of the Jersey Devil? No, not the hockey team. We're talkin' 'bout a really devil here! According the legend (one of many), there was a child born in New Jersey in the 18th century. He was the 13th child of a very tired woman who said "let the devil take him." It was an offer the devil couldn't refuse, and the devilish child haunts New Jersey to this day! What he looks like is much disputed--a bat, a rat, a kangaroo? Have you seen the Jersey Devil? Tell us about it!--Blogging Molly
