In his tireless (some say obsessive) quest to test cellphones to their utmost claimed limits, intrepid PC Magazine phone analyst Sascha Segan may have gone a length too far. Take a look at his review of Verizon's waterproof G'zOne (and how the heck are you supposed to pronounce that, anyway? Gee-zone? Gee-zee-one? Guzoney?). Waterproof? thought Sascha. Must then bring it into the shower and a swimming pool, and have someone take pictures of me using the phone in the water, and show everyone in the world the pictures! You have to see this slideshow.

Man, those photos are classic! It's good to have fun at 'work.' ;)

One of our production people photoshopped Sascha's wet head onto the swimming baby on Nirvana's Nevermind album cover. Squee!

Wow, they did a great job - fooled me! I did briefly wonder where the hell you guys are hiding the pool and underwater camera gear... That'll teach me to be the first to leave a comment. ;)

My vote is definitely for "Guzoney."

I didn't post the Nevermind one...

Funny, I thought this was the cover of "Weird" Al's Off the Deep End.

That's what Brenda Raney from Verizon says. "Gee-Zone." I guess like G-Shock. I was calling it the "Gee Zee One" all through Digital Life.

Dave, a photographer and I went to the rooftop pool at the Gravity health club at the Parker Meridien Hotel and really, truly took those underwater pictures. I even have underwater VIDEO that I couldn't post because I don't know how to post video. The phone is a surprisingly good underwater camera.

Okay, I can't see the total usefulness of a waterproof phone (okay, yes I can, considering how much of a big deal cellular companies make about water damage) but between this and the video of Jim dropping the phone into a fishbowl on DL.TV, the phone looks pretty rugged and awful solid. And the LED flashlight on it is a nifty bonus as well-more phones should have LED lights!
