crumpler%20bundle%20L.jpg Crumpler is unusual. I first heard of the Australian company when it recently opened its New York store and offered bags in exchange for varying amounts of beer. I'll bet they're still drinking up.

Recently Crumpler sent me one of its camera bags, called the Bundle; it comes in green, red, blue, or black and sports the company's goofy-guy logo. The Bundle is made of nearly impervious nylon, it's well padded, and it's got lots of compartments for memory cards, cables, and whatever. I carried my bricklike Canon G6 around in it for days, and I like it just fine. The price for my size-large bag ($28) is reasonable.

So what's unusual about that? Take a look at the site's description of the bag: "That's a nice bundle you got there, girlyboy. But why's it look like a stork? You are one strange bird, you are feathered in some dusty places. But you are one bundle of joystick." Now, is that really necessary?

You'll find myriad other styles, sizes, and colors at Crumpler's Web site.

I'm...not entirely sure I even understand what a "bundle of joystick" could even possibly MEAN.

Still...erm...it's definitely a nice camera bag...if the company isn't run by people who must be clinically insane. Or doing web design while intoxicated.

GREAT bags. Unbelievably bad website.

If I hadn't already seen the bags I'd be concerned about a company that clearly wanted their web presence to be cool/innovative/different/whatever, usability be damned. Not only is the site a graphic representation of ADD, there's precious little info. I hope you're buying the bag 'cause it says "Crumpler," and not because you're looking for a particular size or feature.

I was SURE we were past the days of legitimate companies letting a team of 8th graders build their website (in 100% Flash, of course).
