Back in June, Tiger Electronics (a division of Hasbro) showed us a bunch of hot electronics for this coming holiday season. On September 15, I attended the Totally Tech Tour (T3) in NYC (in the pouring rain no less) to witness even more tech goodies for the holidays.

You've heard of the I-Dog and the I-Cat. Now welcome the I-Fish ($40): Recommended for ages 8 & up, the I-Fish reacts to the music it hears with multicolored flashing lights and funky sound effects. It even moves its head and tail and expresses different personalities. For example, rub the top of the I-Fish's head to put it in a cheerful mood and get it to sing. Just plug in your portable music player to the I-Fish and music will sound through the built-in speaker.

The MASSIVELY MINI Media ($79.99) is a palm-sized 128 MB multimedia player that lets tweens play audio files, watch videos, and view photos. To upload audio and photo files, just drag and drop onto the device drive. Free video downloads, such as webisodes from Zoey 101, Hillary Duff, and the Cartoon Network, are available at www.tigertube.com. To upload video, users can convert their video files with the MINI Media software and then drag and drop the files onto the device drive. The MASSIVELY MINI Media player also features touch-screen controls and comes in three colors: pink, silver, and lime green.

Due to the popular success of the VideoNOW personal video player (since 2003, more than 3.6 million have been sold), Tiger Electronics updated its popular player in color with the VIDEONOW COLOR FX ($30). It features a built-in speaker, a DC power jack and headphone jack (DC adapter and headphones not included). On three AA batteries tweens will enjoy more than five hours of PVDs (personal video discs). The company adds new PVDs for purchase all the time, ranging from TV shows such as SpongeBob Sqaurepants to music videos like Aaron Carter and celebrity exclusives. PVDs range in price from $6 to $10.

Tiger Electronics also showcased the VCamNow 2.0 ($80), a digital video camera with 32 MB of memory and Designer's World ($40), a TV game that lets kids be fashion designers.

The last stop on the Totally Tech Tour is at the Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, September 30 from 10 am to 6 pm. So if you're in that area, check it out!

I so wish I could go to these kinds of tech trade shows and see all the goodies and gadgets on the show floor and play with them! Thanks for the pictures and letting me live vicariously through you guys! I love the I-Fish; I could imagine a bunch of those in the same room while playing really looud music would make for a VERY crowd-pleasing party. ^_~ The Massively Mini Media and the VideoNow players are great to see on the market; not so much because they're really cool devices (they are though, kind of like iPods for kids with stuff they'd like, and much much cheaper) but because they're starting to encorporate features that are standard on more mainstream and higher-end devices like the actual iPod or SanDisk players. That makes me very very happy; the more mainstream and cheaper to produce those features are, the more devices we'll see with them, and the more devices we see with them hopefully means the more the higher end manufacturers will have to innovate and bring us new and shiny features and things to do with our devices that'll make us all happy. :)

You're welcome!! I have to admit--it's definitely LOADS of fun to go to trade shows!! You see a lot of cool things and meet cool people. Seeing all these tech goodies for kids though makes me want to be a kid again. Kids today have so many cool electronics offered to them! The MMM player is so cute, and the fact that it has an FM tuner and the two headphone jacks may steer kids rather than starting out with the iPod. The I-Fish is so cool in person. It's my favorite compared to the I-Dog and the I-Cat. You can totally come to a tech show, Phoenix. Our Digital Life event is open to consumers Oct 12-15 here in NYC. Email us and we'll let you know the details. We're expecting to see you there, and we hope other readers will attend too!!
