 Yes, it's a gorgeous fashion statement and looks a little like an Aston Martin. But I'm still having trouble getting too excited by Verizon's new Motorola KRZR K1m. After spending a day with it and putting it through the usual PC Mag testing routine, I discovered something we all probably already knew: it's a mid-range V CAST music phone dressed up with a lovely, lovely case.
For many people the good looks will be enough, and yes, it looks really good. Voices are sharp and battery life is terrific. But I feel like I've seen this phone before, I've used this phone before, I've spoken on this phone before ... and it was the Motorola RAZR V3m. I think one of the reasons I'm so looking forward to the MOTOFONE is to watch Motorola innovate on technology again, and not just on case design. Read my full review on PCMag.com.

...I worry that this phone, just like all of Verizon's other Motorola offerings to date, will be cripped with the application of Verizon's UI over the native one on the phone. That and Verizon's distrust of its customers (like me!) shows through when they go out of their way to disable bluetooth file transfers (although it looks from your review that at least I can download and (hopefully)upload photos with this one, but what about ringtones?) or the ability to plug the puppy into your computer and manage it. Aside from hacking it, I can only dream of the day when Verizon says "here, here's your phone, have fun with it. If you have a problem, we'll flash it back to original firmware/charge your for support/you're on your own, but at least all the features are there."

Unfortunately fashion is ruled by skinny beautiful models with no brains. The same goes for phones and Motorola got it so right. Most people in this planet are more about People magazine and celebs than they are about megapixels, bluetooth, mp3 or MBs. Motorola's RAZR was the phone to have 2 years ago, the Black RAZR was the phone to have 1 year ago, and now its the Magenta RAZR - none with any functionality upgrade - only color difference. I was in shock when my friend upgraded to their 3rd RAZR in 2 years last month. It is also apparent with the iPod (all other player have more capabilities)

Most of the stuff I hear is it is "another pretty face." It's not. Unlike the RAZR V3i it can hold 500 songs, more than some mp3 players. It has external mp3 controls, the glass is hardened, and hard to scratch, and it shoots videos at 15 fps, way faster than the SLVR's 5 fps. And Motorola FINALLY released a fashion phone with a megapixel camera.
