This Week on Gearlog Radio: Toshiba joined the pack of vendors recalling laptop batteries this week, and several airlines are forcing customers to remove their batteries before they get onto planes. Could a total ban be far behind? Then we discuss HP's embarrassing program to spy on both journalists and it own board members. Are Gearlog's offices bugged? And Brian Bennet explains why he picked the most gridlocked day of the year to test-drive a GPS system from Pioneer. Finally, the new TMX Elmo is out--and the race is on to tear it apart.

Gotta say, that's one of my pet peeves as well! I know people who get new laptops and such and leave the plastic stickers on their machiens for YEARS, and people who leave the feature list stickers on their cameras and TVs for ages as well-it just irks the hell out of me. :) I think you guys brought up a pretty interesting point-that airlines have a captive audience on the plane when you're not using your iPod or your laptop-they want to hit you with ads for their partner products, make you watch their video content, read the magazines they have in the seat pouch ahead of you, and heaven forbid, order from AirMall. ::gag:: Great podcast as usual, guys!
