The world's largest nanotechnology conference, nanoTX '06, takes place in Dallas on September 26 to 28 (during International Nanotechnology Week). And that's where Synergy Yachts plans to unveil the high-performance 350RL yacht.
The 350RL will feature Zyvex NanoSolve products used in the ship's construction, exhibiting the performance and versatility enhancements nanotechnology has to offer. Zyvex is partnering with Synergy Yachts to develop nanotechnologies for the marine industry with a focus on high performance racing, commercial, and military marine applications.
The mast is constructed with high-modulus carbon fiber that is impregnated with NanoSolve enhanced epoxy resin, increasing mast strength without added weight or work in the construction process. The keel foil, the most critical structure of the ship, which runs along the centerline at the bottom of a vessel's hull, is also strengthened with NanoSolve materials. Even the paint on the yacht is enhanced through nanotechnology; Zyvex claims it prevents any marine growth under the waterline of the yacht without the need of toxins.
