Wow-Pen EcoAt Gearlog, we're all about ergonomic products. The Wow-Pen Eco falls somewhere between the PenAgain and a mini USB computer mouse. It is the second generation portable optical mouse of the original Wow-Pen. It's said to "virtually eliminate hand fatigue and carpal tunnel strain when used over long periods." It contains one scroll wheel (middle button) and a Click and "Maue" button (I'm not sure what the latter means).

When you're not using the Wow-Pen ECO, it stands by itself. What's cool is that the optional presentation and handwriting software lets you use the Wow-Pen as a handwriting tool on a variety of applications.

For germaphobes, the Eco also features an anti-bacterial silver nano to reduce the spread of germs if others use your mouse. It's available in four colors: silver, blue, violet, or red. It weighs 38 grams and supports Win 98/2000/Me/XP as well as Mac OSX+. Get it from Donya.jp for 5,980 Yen ($51 USD).

Ok I get that it's supposed to be Ergo, but how the heck do you hold that thing? I liken it to moving your pointer with a lamp. If it helps my hand I'm all for it. I've never been one to follow fashion.

I know, it may look a bit strange to hold, but if you go to http://www.wow-pen.com/eng/products/wowpen.htm, it shows you how to hold it versus holding a regular mouse. It's almost like holding a pen, and is supposed to reduce the strain and pressure you put on your hand while using the mouse. I have a Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000, and I absolutely love it. Before, I used to have to wear wrist pads from using a regular keyboard. Since then, my wrists are fine at the end of the day. However, I've noticed that if I use my computer mouse often, my hand will start to hurt. So I imagine something like the WowPen would make a good investment, not that it's the only ergo mouse out there.

So I just got one for a couple of days, and it's either i don't use it well or that they have still some work to do on the ergo side...
