I see ... text messages .. in your future. And I see them displayed ... on a glowing crystal ball. The Textable iBall (why, oh why, does everything have to start with i?) from Spacewriter takes a cellular SIM card, receives text messages, and shows them on a glowing, 11" diameter crystal ball. It can hold up to 64 one or two-line messages (SMSes are restricted to 160 characters, anyway) and show them in one of several rather odd colors: red, green, blue, turquoise, mauve, yellow, or black. I think this is the first technology press release I've seen actually advertising something in mauve. In case you ever wanted to be your own Magic 8 Ball, this is your chance. There are only two hitches in the plan: it costs $940, and I can't tell from Spacewriter's Web site whether it works on US cellular networks, or only in the home of Harry Potter.
