Saitek Eclipse II KeyboardAs I've told readers before, I just love everything that Saitek comes out with.

This month, Saitek is shipping the Eclipse II backlit keyboard, which is an updated version of the original Eclipse ($60). The new version lets you switch between three different backlit colors (purple, red, blue) that illuminate through the laster-etched keys and are adjustable via a dimmer switch on the keyboard. The Eclipse II is made of a stylish silver casing, and its weighted base and large area rubber feet keep it planted on your desk.

Other noticeable new features are media keys for volume control, Play/Pause and Skip Tracks. Works only with Win XP and 2000.

The Eclipse II Keyboard sells for $70. (Click on image for closer look.)

Logitech's G15 is just as backlit, just as dimmer switched but also includes an LCD read out for a few bucks cheaper.

Nice board for those with itsy-bitsy fingers, those who enjoy wearing sunglasses---even when it's dark, and those with wallets several inches thicker than their IQ quotient.

I have a Saitek Eclipse, and I think it's probably the best keyboard I've ever owned. A lot of gamers love the keyboard, only recently with tge G15 surpassing it in quality and popularity. I don't know what Benthere is talking about, but the original Eclipse is a solid keyboard with well sized keys, and it's not so bright in the dark that the light is a problem; actually a lot of people have reported that the keys are a little dim on the Eclipse. The Eclipse II looks like a very attractive keyboard, and hopefully smaller than the absolutely massive entire-desk-spanning G15. I'm dying to try a G15, but boy is it huge.
