Old phoneHey, all you people whining about how "not thin" the LG Chocolate is - take a look at the luscious models from Retrobrick, retailer of vintage mobile phones. For around $100, you can get a true classic: the Motorola DynaTAC, the first commercial cell phone sold in the US. With eight hours of standby time and half an hour of talk time, it measured 13" x 1.75" x 3.5".

Retrobrick sells a slew of other landmark phones, too, such as the Motorola MicroTAC (the first flip phone, inspiring 70% of the phones sold in the US today), the legendary StarTAC and the original analog Nokia cellular phone.

There's only one problem, though. While these phones could still theoretically work on analog networks in the US, according to Verizon, the FCC requires that all new phones activated today have the new E911 emergency calling functionality. Obviously, these phones don't, so carriers won't activate them. Spoilsports. Still, at prices as low as $10 each for old-school phones, they'd make a lovely ornamental gift for your favorite geek.

I wanted the motorola V50 for the longest time...and found it on RetroBrick. Im based in Dubai, UAE and since this company is based in London, I was told its going to take atleast 2 weeks shipping, which is understandable. After a month of payment I still didnt receive the phone and I asked Tomcable(the person i was corresponding with)to ship it to my cousins in london. Nothing like that happened. He even stopped responding to my mails, and obviously theres no replys to my mails regarding refund. This is very unprofessional and could be termed as a 'Scam' .Be very careful when you buy anything off RetroBrick. Its been over 6 months now and I've given up any and all hope of hearing from Tomcable , god forbid should I even think of receiving a phone.

Same here! I bought a Startac from them and although the shipping to Sri Lanka was no problem, the phone was crap! It lasted exactly for 3 days and then it died.
I understand that i bought a used phone and its lifespan might be unpredictable but 3 days is not done!
The worse thing is that they don`t reply to any complaints or comments regarding this matter so i left with a hefty bill, a broken phone and a bad taste about Retrobrick!

I ordered a Motorola 8000 phone around March 3, 2008 (over a year ago) and I never received it. I have emailed them several times before with no success. Be very careful about dealing with this company
