Royal PF56 LCD Display Digital Picture Frame

Can you tell which picture frame sitting on my desk is digital?

Product Review: Royal PF56 5.6" Digital Picture Frame ($149.99)

Overall: The PF56 5.6-inch Digital Picture Frame made by Royal isn't ultraportable like the PF140, PF141 and PF110 I've already looked at, but it dons a much larger screen (5.6-inches diagonal). However, in order to view your photos on the frame, you must use the media card from your digital camera and insert the card into the frame. This can be a pain because if you have to shoot more photos, you must remove the media card and insert it back into your camera. In addition, it displays very poor picture quality and the slideshow mode is slower than it says. There are better digital photo frames out there.

Features: 5.6-inch diagonal LCD screen. Supports JPEG, MPEG & AVI file formats. Only supports Compact Flash, Smart Media, Memory Stick, Multi Media, Secure Digital, and XD cards. Slide duration option. Adjustable brightness, contrast and color.

Package includes: PF56 Digital Picture Frame, AC adapter, USB cable, and three different frames (although my package only came with one).

How It Works: Plug the AC adapter into the wall. Turn the power on, located at the top of the unit. Then insert your media card of choice. I tested the following media cards and they all worked: CF, MS, SD, and XD. Then select the folder your photos are in by pressing the Enter button. Press Enter again to select photos for display and use the navigational buttons. Once you choose a photo, press Enter for different options (Rotate, Zoom, Slideshow, Delete). Make sure you turn off the frame before removing media card.

Royal PF56 5.6Likes: Bright screen. Can display as many photos as your media card holds. Looks great on your desk at the office or home.

Gripes: Picture quality is weak and shaky. No internal memory; must use media cards to display photos. Doesn't accept Memory Stick Duo cards. No "Eject" button to remove card safely (you have to grab the frame and pull the card out with force). When you zoom in on a photo and then activate slideshow mode, it doesn't save that zoomed image, it just goes back to the original photo. Takes six seconds to zoom. When I selected the "3-sec" slideshow duration, it took longer to show each picture (11 seconds). No cropping feature.

I've been reading about these frames since 2004. I never could find a really good review on a digital frame that didn't require a monthly fee. After reading about this one I decided to give it a shot. I bought SUN-SG8 8Inch Digital Photo Frame. love it. Picture quality is great and the features it offers are excellent as well. I repeat the picture quality is great! I've seen some dim and/or grainy images on other frames but not on this model. It comes with a remote so you can advance pictures yourself or have a slideshow with 1,3,5,or 10 30/60/300/1800/3600 sec second intervals. Can play MP3 (music) files through a set of built-in speakers, also support MPEG4, DivX and XviD movie formats. built-in real-time clock and calendar with battery back-up. Ideal for Digital Signs, POP Displays and Retail Advertising. Automatic power on/off time I liked it so much I bought my mother one and she is also very pleased www.sungroupshop.cm
