That should probably read, my Sanyo Katana review. I got some time to test Sprint's hot new RAZR clone, and it's quite pretty. It probably won't thrill the crazed feature-hounds who comment on Engadget threads, but it will do pretty well among voice-oriented consumers who are looking for something even more RAZR-ish than the Samsung MM-A900. And it comes in pink. I suspect the pink one is going to do quite well indeed. One mystery: why does a low-to-midrange phone have a super-high-res 320x240 screen? That makes for some great Opera Mini Web surfing, but it seems out of place on a non Power Vision device with no streaming video or high-powered camera.

I work for Sprint and we just got the dummy in. This phone is gonna sell HOT because it is HOT. Power Vision doesn't matter, no one wants Internet on their phones except the people who should really be getting PDA phones. The average consumer wants something that looks cool. The RaZr is really slow but for some reason EVERYONE and their Grandma has one. Katana will be hot.

I've been calling my local Sprint store and they won't get a shipment in until August, *maybe* september. The Tele-Sales number for Sprint has them, but only in Black and White. I guess I'll have to wait a while for my Blue to come in. *sigh*

This phone looks perfect for me. I don't care about the power vision crap, as I am not an MTV addict and am and adult with a real digital SLR. The VGA camera is enough in case I see something odd somewhere and don't want to get the DSLR out. Jon... call different stores in your area, I called 10 different stores and got a different answer from each one on when they will be in. The 10th store had them in stock and its a Kiosk in the mall.

I just got a blue one today. The clerk told me I was the first to purchase it. Im not sure what I think at this point, the phone looks great but it is almost tooo thin and I am worried that they wont have a standard clamshell type case for it but only a holster case. The ear speaker doesnt rest well and is uncomfortable and the ringtone selection blows but I guess thats the case with almost all phones. The volume is great and the camera works surprisingly well so far. Hopefull I will get used to it, time will tell

well i am with verizon but am useing the 30 day trial with sprint and i have the katana and it is great. the key pads light up blue easy to see and easy to use. the sound is great except at high levels it is a little harsh but not bad.the screen in bright sun light is a little washed outbut most phones are . getting around in the phone is easy .it has alot of features for the no frills ,talking ,down load your ring tones, play your games phone and it does get out in areas where verizon cant (anolog) at least where i live . im close to the end of the 30 day trial and im keeping the phone and the service i hope this is some help for others looking for a phone

I just got the Sanyo Katana, and I FREAKING LOOOVE IT! IT's awesome! I didn't want Power Vision, and it's a really nice, slim phone without all the defects of the Razr. 2 thumbs up!

I just got my Polar White Katana yesterday. I HATE flip phones in general, but I LOVE this phone! I've only had Sanyo phones in the past, and they've never let me down. This is a great little phone and is slim enough to follow me to class and/or the bars! : )

Had a Razr, nothing but problems, had horrible reception, barely useable as a PHONE, so I switched to sprint and picked up one of these sexy blue sapphire Katanas, very nice phone, been using over 2 months without a single problem, great reception, nice features, very user friendly interface, only complain is lack of EVDO but overall pretty good.

I have had my Katana less than a month ago. This peice of crap was not worth the money. It held a charge great for the first couple of weeks. Then boom the damn thing went dead. And I have not been able to get it back on since. I set it to charge one night and the next morning nothing so I tought the charger was not in so i plug it in again and ran to do some honey do thging when i came back it still was not powering on and yet it says that it was completely charged. DONT BUY THIS PHONE.

I have had the Katana now for about 2 mons and I love it, of course I have the pink one! Two things that need to be revised in the next model of this phone a louder ringer especially for downloaded music ringers. My Sanyo 8100 had a good ringer... The key pad should be illuminated and its not I think every other phone I have had an illuminated key pad and now that I have a phone that doesn't I really miss it.

so i just got the phone in pink-- its cool and all but its DEFINETLY not the color pink they advertise-- its actually a peach color whereas they show it as more purpely..overall its pretty good-- a con--vibrations are WAY to strong and can be heard almost immediatly by anyone

A Great Phone.
And for those who are puzzled about ringers. QCPs are kind of soft it's true, but midi ringers are just as loud as the built in ringers.
There are tons out there and some are very well done. Making QCPs that are loud enough takes some trial and error.
If I ever get it consistently good I will definitely let the Katana community know.

Ive had a blue Katana a month, and so far-- I love it--. I had a razr before-- and I thought the razr software was sluggish, and input into the phone was on like a 1 second delay-- not to mention the reception on the razr was inconsistent- moments of clarity, and moments of obvious signal distortion. I strongly recommend the katana for its reception clarity-- what a difference! very impressed so far.
