My Toyota RAV4 is a brand new vehicle, so I'm not about to decorate it with bumper stickers or stick my EZPass on the windshield. But when I do go through tolls, I have to hold up the EZPass to the windshield which is not only a pain, but it makes me look like I'm doing some weird stretching exercise while driving.
I suppose that eventually I'll get some velcro and succumb to sticking it on my windshield, but it just looks so ugly. So one company decided to dress up the EZPass with the Highway Image. The Highway Image is a cover for your EZPass or other electronic toll device. It's a clear laminate that sticks to the inside of the windshield and to the back of your EZPass to hide that boring white device.
The tag covers come in a variety of 11 design categories such as Baseball, Recreation, Flags & Patriotic, and Fun & Symbols. (I have to say my favorite is the classic Smiley Face.) You can also custom-make your own tag for yourself, a school, or company (if you order 16 or more quantities). Prices range from $9.99 to $19.99. Each tag cover is said to be fade resistant and stands up to ultra-violet rays.
Now you may be thinking, won't this interfere with my electronic device? Well, it shouldn't because it has been tested by pass manufacturers and reviewed by the Federal Highway Safety Administration. It works with the following National toll systems: EPASS, E-Z Pass, Express Toll, Fast Lane, Fas Trak, Georgia Cruise Card, I PASS, K Tag, LEEWAY, MTAG, Palmetto Pass, Smart Tag, SUN PASS, Toll Tag, Trans Pass, weigh station and tolling with PrePass and PrePassPlus.

Seriously, I'm kind of annoyed at the big beige box that's sitting just next to my rear view mirror. But then, is this like the displayed photo and the image faces OUT of the car? In that case, it'd be more for other people, wouldn't it? Still, it's pretty neat! I think I'll hold off a little while until there are some more designs though...or submit my own!

Yes, the image side faces out of the car, so while other drivers will see something nice and pretty, you'll still be stuck with looking at the ugly box. Oh man!

What's stopping anyone from using thier uber-cheap color inkjet they likely got bundled with their PC/leptop from making their own design, cutting it out and taping it to the EZPass (or FasTrak)? Oh... I forgot.... People want to buy a solution, not make one (*sigh*). While there is nothing wrong with the idea (or Jennifer's article), it just seems to me to be slightly sad commentary on how the lazy can be exploited with a gimmick. I wish I had thought of it first!

You know Sean, you make a pretty good point! I should just do this myself, then I can have whatever design on the front that I like!

I broke down and bought one. Glad I did. The American flag looks great (and you can't see it from the inside b/c it's behind the rear view mirror). There's nothing scarier than driving 65 MPH down the highway and reaching over to pull the tag out of the glove box! I hope more people catch on. I though about making my own too- it was too hard with the velcro in the way.

Avoid this product sold by "Highway Image" company the tag covers have deffective adhesive and they WILL fall from your windshield without warning. I purchased two of these and both failed within a month of each other. They seperate between the image and plastic backer leaving the image stuck to your windsield and the tag somewhere on the floor or console. Highway Image is completley unresponsive to requests for warranty via email or phonecall.
