On Route 9N in the Adirondacks, where it goes through Jay, New York, is a long-abandoned bridge. The bridge has been out of commission since before GPS navigation existed; the roadbed is gone, and only the crumbling supports remain. There's a guardrail preventing the dumbest motorists from attempting to drive across the Ausable River.
But just in case, on the far side of the river is still a sign (now upside down), that says, Road Closed. No chance drivers will wind up in the drink, as have motorists following navigation system instructions at the Avon River in England.
