Summer Gadgets Countdown #11: Wireless BBQ Thermometer This is another one of those, "how lazy can you get" devices. Design: Made by Oregon Scientific, the Wireless BBQ Thermometer lets you know when your food is ready to eat from up to 100 feet away with the remote wireless transmitter. Features: Displays temperature range of 0 degrees F to 392 degrees F. Comes with a detachable belt clip and table stand. I think this is the only gadget on this countdown that actually includes batteries (yay!) 2 AA-batteries and 2 AAA-batteries. How It Works: Throw your food on the grill. Press and hold power until the Thermosensor's red LED flashes. Then press and hold power until the monitor's green LCD lights and all display segments appear. Then select the kind of entrée it is, from beef and lamb to hamburger and fish. Then select the level of your desired doneness: Rare, Medium Rare, Medium, Well Done. Place the thermosensor near the cooking area and insert the tip of the probe into the center of the meat. You can use the stand for easy viewing or use the belt clip. It alerts you when your food is: Almost ready, Ready, Overcooked, or Out-of-Range. Price: The Wireless BBQ Thermometer sells for $39.95 on OregonScientific.com or on Amazon.com for just $24.09.
