It's a new year, and once again you made resolutions to lose weight. But running on the treadmill or riding a stationary bike is just so boring.
Well, if you just so happen to have five grand lying around, the Expresso Fitness bicycle can turn your cardiovascular experience into a virtual reality game. The stationary bike has a built in computer and LCD panel that simulates a variety of virtual trails. You can race against other virtual riders, and tackle tough courses, like racing uphill where the pedals resist against each stride. The handlebars can be maneuvered like a real bicycle, and the screen monitors your heart rate. And just like hitting the real gyms, the LCD also has a built in TV tuner and music player.
The site doesn't mention anything about force feedback, like what if I bump into other virtual riders? The real attraction for me is that a 30 minute routine will seem like nothing with this technology. Thanks, Mr. Mossberg, for reviewing this.
