This seemed to be a pretty low-key year for tech advertising during the superbowl. Go Daddy.com's salacious silliness was amusing last year, but it just seems cheap. I loved the Sprint Phones with theft-deterrent ad. Slapstick is perfect for the Super Bowl crowd, plus it subliminally suggests that Spint phones are tougher since the Nextel merger. And then there was the new Gillette Fusion. The Fusion Gillette's latest premium razor blade with five, count 'em, FIVE blades. Yes, I know this is a cruel marketing ploy to sell more blades. And yes, the company keeps changing the blade socket so you can't use old blades with the new razors, something we would never stand for in the tech industry. And yes, I saw the Saturday Night live sketch. But I lost my old razor (honest) and bought a Fusion this weekend. An electric one at that. And it really does work great. The little trimmer is a neat addition, too. C'mon, it is only $12. Oh, and the Steelers won. iFilm has a collection of this year's Superbowl ads.

Don't forget about the Moto PEBL phone commercial. That was entertaining, too. In case you didn't see it, the phone starts out as a crater...and a piece breaks off and somehow lands in an ocean and washes up shore. A person finds it on the beach among actual pebbles. Then there was the Escalade ad...it was pretty dumb. (A car on a model runway?) By far my fav was the crime-deterrent Sprint ad. TOO funny!!!!!!!!!

Last year Norelco aired a spot for their electric shaver with lotion. It was a spoof ad for all these blade razor ads with an extra blade each year. The quintippio has 15 extra large blades! Hilarious spot, see it on www.quintippio.co.uk
