PC Magazine's GPS navigator, Craig Ellison, has the scoop on a few new Garmin in-car GPS systems that will be announced to today at SEMA. He was already a big fan of the StreetPilot 2720, but the new StreetPilot 2730 ($1,199, estimated)and StreetPilot 7200 ($1,499, estimated) come with integrated XM satellite receivers. Not only do you get 150 channels of satellite radio programing, but you also get access to XM Weather and XM NavTraffic services. To say nothing of eliminating a lot of dashboard clutter. Both models should ship by the end of the year. You can read all the details here. And stay tuned for more news from SEMA. Robyn Peterson is on the ground and will no doubt dig up some cool stuff. David Coursey's comment: Whatever happened to the idea that consumer electronics are supposed to get less expensive over time? Garmin never misses a chance to set a new (and higher) price point.
